Living Stories are Alive and Well

About: This blog is all about the new "Living Stories" program that is working with Google. Down below is the video that explains what the living stories imply and also some question that I have answered about this new news source.

How is the Google Living Stories approach different than other news sources?
Answer: Goggle Living Stories is different from other news sources by this gives you full coverage of any story all in one place, instead of jumping from site to site. Also each time you refresh the page or go back to it, updates of the story are given, where like other sources you have to wait hours or even days for updates.

Do you think this approach to stories will help to reduce bias in the news? Why or Why Not?
Answer: In some ways I do believe that this approach will reduce bias in the news because now that you have the full story instead of bits and pieces of it, now people can know the whole truth at once. Plus this source is updated all the time so now you can get faster coverage of the story as it happens.

What features would you like to see added to Google's project?
Answer: I would like the see maybe some live video feed as the story is happening, or some replays of something that has happened. Also it'd be pretty cool if you could interact with people on here, like a little chat room or something.

Black Friday Fiasco!

About
-This post was about Black Friday which was the day after thanksgiving. Down below are a description of what black friday is, what takes part during this even and my own thoughts on this fiasco.

What is Black Friday?
Answer: Black Friday, is the Friday following Thanksgiving Day. This event is the official start of the traditional Christmas shopping season. The "Black Friday" name originated in Philedelphia. During this time, most stores with sales are open an hour or even two hours later than they usually are, giving people enough time to find the things they need.

Online Shopping vs. In-store Shopping
Advantages of Online shopping:
-Avoid crowded malls and stores
-Save Gas
-Available all hours
-Compare prices easily

Disadvantages of Online Shopping:
-Shipping and handeling fee's
-Delay in recieving product
-Cant personally examine the item

Advantages of In-Store Shopping:
-Get to personally examine the item you are buying
-Dont have to pay extra for shipping and handeling
-Walk out the store with the item personally in hand

Disadvantages of In-Store Shopping:
-Crowded places
-Not available at all hours
-Limited items in store
-Cannont easily compare prices

Thoughts
I am not one who will wake up extra early just to get a good spot in line, so I can be one of the firsts to get into a store. Neither am I, one to surf the net for good prices on Black Friday. Even though you do get some great deals during this time, to me it is not worth fighting and pushing over items in a store just for that moment of satisfaction. I'd rather go the day after and do my holiday shoppings.

Web Services

About
-This post is about web services and what they do. There is a brief description about what web services do for you, and also a couple of other web services listed at the bottom.

I think Indicee and all the other web services out there is a good way to help individuals finally organize their work. It adds a new dimension to correcting and adding things to papers or special presentations. These programs let you do things, that others wont let you do, like collaborating with other people and making edits while offline.

-Joyant: Offer infrastructure as a service and sofware as a service

-Rackspace: Lets customers host their own websites and rent servers
